DZone Inc., provider of online communities that empower developers, today announced the appointment of veteran marketing executive, Susan C. Wall, as chief marketing officer (CMO). Wall brings to DZone more than 25 years of experience in marketing, technology, and media. As CMO, she will oversee all aspects of branding, positioning and the revenue cycle including the development and execution of strategies to grow the business through the increased acquisition and retention of community members and customers.
“This is an exciting time to join DZone,” said Wall. “The company is perfectly positioned at the convergence of two important trends – increasing desire for the authentic voice presented by user-generated content and recognition of the growing importance of developers to not only technology companies, but also tech-enabled companies. I’m looking forward to taking my experience and helping DZone grow at an even greater pace.”
Prior to joining DZone, Wall was an early hire at Durham-based Bronto software where she led the marketing effort, helping the company grow from just over $1million in annual revenue to over $80 million. She also led Bronto through its two recent acquisitions. Prior to her time at Bronto, Wall held leadership roles in various media and technology companies including The New York Times.
“Wall brings invaluable expertise in ROI-based marketing and in media and publishing that will have an immediate impact on achieving our growth objectives,” said Matt Tormollen, DZone CEO. “Her experience in managing growth within investor-backed start-ups will also be a huge asset as a member of our executive team.”
In addition to augmenting the executive team, DZone recently announced the company will be an anchor tenant at the newest building in The Frontier in RTP. DZone will continue its growth trajectory and interweave its mission to build vibrant developer communities in an area with a similar mission and focus.
